This campaign consisted of two courses, one by Tokyo metropolitan area and another by Shinkansen (bullet train). There were gifts and lottery prizes given away to those participating.
The courses were as follows: Touch with Suica! "Adventure as a Piplup!" This course took place in the metropolitan area and was limited to children of elementary school age. There were a total of five touch stations utilizing Suica, a rechargeable smart card used as a fair card for certain train stations in Japan. It's presumed each station would grant an original PMD sheet (seal). If all four different sheets are collected, a participant could go to one of the goals set in two places to receive a campaign-limited seal. Touch Station (10: 00-16: 00): Shinagawa Station, Shinjuku Station, Ikebukuro Station, Ueno Station, Matsudo Station Goal (10: 00-17: 00): Akihabara Station, Pokémon Center Tokyo (the nearest station is Hamamatsucho Station) |
If participants applied for the "Piplup Prize" by placing the application sticker to a special pamphlet, 50 people would be selected to win a copy of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky. If participants complete the course "Catch the Bandit Grovyle" and complete the "Become a Piplup Adventure!" goal, they could apply to win a prize awarded to 50 people by lottery.
A Course (10 people): Nintendo DSi + 6 original PMD seals obtainable in the "Piplup Adventure" course, including 6 variations of PMD seals. B Course (40 people): Gift certificate + 2 original PMD seals obtainable in the "Piplup Adventure" course [1]. |

Pokémon Pal City or Pokémon Festa 2007 was an event held at 6 venues nationwide in Japan. Attractions included "Pokémon League DP 2007" which was a district tournament where TCG players could compete. The event began July 15th and ran until September 2nd. In addition to the TCG League district tournament, there are other various attractions, distributions, and demos. Visitors could receive a special Mew, Lucario, and Manaphy if they had their copy of Pokémon Diamond or Pearl. Admission to the event was free and it was held during the hours of 9:00-17:00 with the final admission allowed no later than 16:30 [4]. The schedule for the travelling event went as follows:
|
Excerpt from Game Watch website: ""Pokémon Pulcity" has a lot of free contents to enjoy, but various attractions are also available. In order to enjoy these attractions, you can purchase a prepaid card called "Pal Point Card" and use it to enjoy each attraction. Each attraction is designated as "5 pal points," and each time you use an attraction, you will be drawn from the pal point card. By the way, 1 pal point is 100 yen (tax included). 10 pal points (1,000 yen) cards and 20 pal points (2,000 yen) cards are sold at the venue." [5] |
Among the attractions at Pal City was a walk-through tent set up as a replica of Wigglytuff's Guild "ポケモン不思議のダンジョン 時の探検隊・闇の探検隊 すすめ! みならい探検隊!". The attraction acted similarly to a "haunted house" maze except rather than frightful encounters, participants would encounter attacking Pokémon on a screen. Upon entering the tent, participants would hold their hand over a PC to check their "aura" much like in the actual Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games. They would then be assigned a Pokémon and were given a visor of that same Pokémon to wear as they maneuvered through the attraction. According to a blog post on Charinco blog, in order to defend against attacking Pokémon throughout the maze, participants would need to shout out attack moves [6]. |
Once the goal was reached, participants would choose one out of a dozen keys to attempt to open a treasure chest. If they chose the correct key, they would be given a badge. However, if the participants chose the wrong key, they would instead be given a "certificate" (see below photos of certificates/cards). |
Along the side of the attraction there was a demo station where visitors could play a demo of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time or Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. There were 100 demo DS stations that would allow each person to play a 10 minute demo of the new games. Special postcards were given to presented to those who play the demo [7]. |
